Mark your calendars for the Institute of Public Administration of Canada's (IPAC) annual 2021 National Conference, August 23-24! IPAC 2021 will take place virtually from Ottawa-Gatineau.
This event, IPAC's 73rd annual conference, will bring together officials from all orders of government, academics and students, community leaders, and private sector professionals from across the country eager to share promising practices, learn new knowledge, and network virtually.
This conference is formally situated on the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg Peoples. With participants joining virtually from coast to coast, we acknowledge the ancestral and unceded territory of all First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples who call this land home.

The National Capital Region (NCR) Group of IPAC is honoured to be virtually hosting IPAC’s 73rd annual National Conference on August 23-24, 2021.
This annual conference is IPAC’s signature event of the year, attracting some 500+ delegates from across Canada and beyond. Our 2021 theme – SHAPING FUTURES: A Public Service Positioned to Strengthen Canada’s Recovery – reflects the important role of public administration in building better futures particularly in the context of the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Together we will create opportunities to share our experiences, knowledge and ideas for shaping futures with four sub-themes:

Reconciliation with First Nations, Inuit and Métis;

Governance Policy-Making;

Technology and Service Delivery; and
-
An Inclusive and Enabling Workforce.
I hope to welcome you to an event filled with animated discussion, active learning, spirited speakers, and interactive networking.
As Honourary Co-Chair of IPAC 2021, I am particularly excited about engaging with you on these important topics, discussing how we can collectively make an impact on shaping Canada’s future, and to getting to hear from you—all while enjoying a very exciting conference!

The Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) 2021 National Conference, taking place virtually in the National Capital Region, comes at a time where we are engaging in important conversations on who we are as public service institutions and where we find ourselves with a unique ability to advance change.

The theme this year – SHAPING FUTURES: A Public Service Positioned to Strengthen Canada’s Recovery – is reflective of how each level of government worked across jurisdictions to help roll out supports and services to Canadians when they needed it the most. It equally represents the path forward that we must chart together.
As a Co-Chair who represents the municipal sector, I am particularly proud of how municipal public servants across Canada have continued to deliver services to their communities throughout the pandemic. This includes ensuring our municipal services met the needs of all residents, including those who have been most-at-risk to the impacts of COVID-19.
There is so much to learn from each other. August 23-24, 2021 will be an opportunity for our municipal public servants to join their peers in sharing our individual and collective experiences.
Our future will be shaped by your ideas on where we need to go with service delivery, technology, diversity and inclusion, what we consider a workplace, and so much more!
As Honourary Co-Chair of IPAC 2021, I hope we seize this opportunity to discover how we can work in more inclusive and effective ways to better serve citizens.
